Street 'Flower Children'---they're gone!

Thanks to the concerted efforts of your Allied Florists of Houston working effectively, the Hippie Flower Peddlers have given up.

Bob Flagg credits the assistance of a city councilman, calls from Allied members and the police began picking up (or chasing off) the street vendors. Then a Houston shop, The Flower Children, (not yet an Allied Member and not related to the street vendors) filed an injunction prohibiting the hippies from using the name 'Flower Children.'

The Chief Flower Child reported to the Flower Children shop that Houston was too tough, and they were leaving.

AFH Betty Odale

Unique foliage (left) bouquets captured the fancy of the audience at Houston Allied's Spring design school which centered solely on wedding work. The pictured bouquet at left was designed by Tim McClelland with variegated garden greenery with three cymbidium orchids tucked in. Leonard Tharp designed the other two "edible" bouquets for the mod wedding - the center one using a red cabbage head and violets and the one on the right featuring ahead of kale with nine stephanotis. Houston Allied Florist President Betty Odale (right) admires an unusual bridesmaid's bouquet done by Leonard Tharp at the group's recent design school. Mr. Tharp used a variety of foliage - dracaena, kalancho, springeri fern - accented by artificial berries.
