Welcome to this month's edition of my column focusing on the joys of floral design. I hope everyone has had an increase in sales now that school is back in session. This month I have two pieces of information to share with you.

1) As you probably already know, I have the privilege of being the 2007 Houston Cup Competition chair. It is my intent to make this competition the best one we've had to date. This will not be an easy task, so I am going to need everyone's help. I am looking for people to compete in this year's Houston Cup competition. We have a great prize package and it is truly a rewarding growth experience. So please don't give it a second thought. JUST DO IT !!

2) I received the dream assignment of a lifetime. I was lucky enough to be invited to go to Grand Rapids Michigan to design for the JOHN HENRY WEDDING DESIGN BOOK 2007 !!!!  Imagine the chance to work with J Schwanke AAF AIFD PFCI, James DelPrince Ph.D AIFD PFCI, Kebbie Hollingsworth AIFD, and Karen Manness on the book that sets wedding trends !! I will share all the details from that life-changing experience in my October column so stay tuned !!

The Book design project took a full week so needless to say my article for the month would be in trouble.  Fortunately, my very good friend, amazing designer, and 2006 Texas Cup Winner Beth O'Reilly was there to fill in for me. What follows is her fabulous article on a fascinating subject. She will be contributing to this column from time to time. ENJOY and see you next month !!
