The non profit Connecticut Florists Association was formed in 1938 and today is considered one of about 10 full-time state florists organizations in the United States. CFA manages the nation's eighth largest florist trade show, "Northeast Floral Expo", which usually attracts between 1,000 to 1,600 florists from seven states.
CFA performs many services for the trade and the public, including a new florists trade school, "CFA's Floral Design School", which opened under state license in August 2000. CFA's florists annually decorate the Governor's Residence in Hartford each Christmas season. The organization also maintains a full-time lobbyist to watch over federal, state and local issues that impact on floral industry.
