Allied Florists of Houston

Houston School of Floral Design was founded in 1980, and is approved and regulated by the Texas Education Agency, Division of Proprietary Schools, Austin, Texas. The school is located at 7727 San Felipe, Suite 100, in the office park complex of San Felipe on the Bayou. The design studio faces the natural setting of a wooded bayou ravine, and consists of a demonstration area, flower preparation area, individual student design tables, and floral refrigeration equipment.

The director and principal instructor of the school is Allied Florists of Houston member Pat Hermes TMFA. Ms. Hermes, a Texas Master Florist, has been in the floral industry for over twenty years. She owned a retail florist and wedding consulting business before opening Houston School of Floral Design and during this time, also instructed floral design for Rice University's Department of Continuing Studies. She served on the Education Committee of the Texas State Florists' Association for 6 years.
