September 23, 2003 To: All Allied Florists of Houston & their family and friends Re: JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes / Sunday, November 2,2003
This fundraiser is one that is very personal to my family and me. As many of you may know, our daughter, Melissa, was diagnosed with this dreadful disease a week before her 11th birthday. Since that day, she must take multiple insulin injections and test her blood sugar six or more times a day to ensure her safety. However, we refuse to stop fighting against her diabetes when we know there is still research to be done. We ask all members to help raise money for this cause. Any donation would be greatly appreciated. If you would like to join us in the walk, we invite you for a brunch after the walk at the PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP tent. It makes for a most enjoyable morning for a most worthy cause. For all walkers who raise at least $50, a T-shirt (from PWC) will be provided for the walk. For those who raise at least $100, an additional T-shirt (from JDRF) will be given the day of the race. In appreciation of each member that donates (or raises) at least $100, they will receive 25 FREE RIO ROSES from Southern Floral Company and Equiflor Corporation. But, any donated amount would be greatly appreciated. If you are unable to walk, please
still consider
donating. On behalf of Melissa and MANY others who must take 4-6
insulin injections and deal with this dreaded disease on a daily basis,
we appreciate your support. If you are willing to help, please make
your check out to. Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and
send it in no later than October 15 to... For more information on the walk or if you would like your display to be personalized with your own shops name and logo, please contact Susan or Laura @ (713) 867-0236/ email houlll@aol.com Thank you in advance for your support towards the cure for diabetes. Sincerely, Susan Weatherford
