* ACCOLADES *** KUDOS ****
CONGRATULATIONS *** WAY TO GO ***

Congratulations to Joel Paul Shirley TMF, Terry
Shirley TMF, staff, and family on their 60th Anniversary
!!!
JULIE BECK TMFA
Julie has just begun teaching floral design
classes in the Continuing Education Dept. of San Antonio College.
She would LOVE to hear from owners of
flower shops about the most important skills you are looking for
in potential employees. The students want to know! Her email
address is juliabeck@earthlink.net.
She also highly recommends teaching. "If anyone (especially you TMF's
and TMFA's out there) has an opportunity to teach any class at all, my
advice is: GO FOR IT! You will be amazed how you can recall things
from your experiences and collected knowledge. Teaching has
been a great experience for me. It's two of my
favorite things. Talking and Flowers! How great is that."
Good job, Julie! We wish you all the best in
this new endeavor!

REY RODRIGUEZ TMF
Rey is the president of his local chapter of
CASA. ( Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children)
CASA trains volunteers to gather the facts
surrounding cases where children have been removed from their homes due
to abuse and or neglect. These facts are reported back to the
district judge so that the judge may decide what is in the best
interest of that child or children. Each program has to find its own
funding and applies for grants, but each organization also welcomes any
free funding. This April, in honor of National Child Abuse and
Neglect Prevention Month, Rey developed a blue ribbon arrangement
which includes a keepsake lapel pin. The arrangement retails for
$20 with 20% of the sale benefiting his local CASA. Five
flower shops in his area are promoted the design.
NORA CISNEROS TMF
Nora Cisneros TMF of Kingwood Flowers &
Gifts presented a design program "Body Flower Fiesta"
for the March meeting of the Society for the
Advancement of Floral Design (SAFD).
Using the new John Henry Book as inspiration,
Nora not only showed how to construct corsages using the most current
trends,
but also presented each SAFD member attending
the show with a corsage to wear that evening and take home to
enjoy.
